These shots were made for the teaser of the Dead Poets Society Festival (Amsterdam, April 2020). We made a short trailer to promote the festival and wanted to give ourselves the freedom to shoot the footage the way the festival is. If I think about music in general, I immediately think about the passion most people show when they are on stage. Simply the goal to share their own music with the audience and to enjoy the moment.
Dance and music are strongly intertwined and both are to me a universal way to convey emotion, passion, rythm and freedom visbible. Because of the backlight that shines behind the dancer (Claire Wijnands), her movements are centralized and it seems like she's playing with the light.
